No scalpel vasectomies
North Downs Hospital offers the modified
no-scalpel vasectomy. This simple and gentle procedure uses a
fine needle point rather than a scalpel. This leads to
minimal bleeding, less bruising and discomfort all of which result
in a far faster recovery time. This no-incision method allows
for minimal physical discomfort for patients both during, and
after, the procedure.
We offer a one-stop service for patients
wishing to avoid a general aesthetic or taking significant time off
work and the all inclusive fee is £395.
Our no-scalpel vasectomies are performed by Dr
Tina Peers at her Saturday morning clinic. Dr Peers has
modified the standard no scalpel technique to further improve
it. She is the only practitioner currently performing this
method in the UK. She started performing vasectomies in 1998,
and to date has carried out over 3000. She currently performs
around 200 vasectomies a year and has been using this modified
no-scalpel method since 2005. Her haematoma rate (a
recognised complication in vasectomies) is 0%.
Another rare complication of vasectomy can be
post vasectomy pain syndrome but using this technique the incidence
is currently 0%.
A GP referral is not required for this
procedure.
