Clinical interests

I have developed a special interest in all forms of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, in particular upper and lower GI endoscopy (colonoscopy) including also Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP), for investigation of hepatobiliary and gallstone disease. I also undertake investigation with wireless capsule endoscopy for imaging of the small bowel, and undertake breath testing for the investigation of functional bowel and bacterial overgrowth syndromes as well as food intolerances linked to the Irritable Bowel syndrome (IBS).

Medical conditions in which I have a special interest include the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and abdominal pain,Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) including Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease and Liver disease. I now practice out of several private hospitals in Surrey and Sussex and also see NHS patients via the ‘Choose and Book’ system.

Initial consultation fee will not exceed £225 and follow-up consultation fee will not exceed £175. 

Academic background

I studied Medicine at Oxford University from 1976-1979,and then completed my clinical studies at Charing Cross Hospital in London,qualifying BA MB BS in 1982. My junior hospital doctor posts were spent around several hospitals in London including the Whittington Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital. I researched and wrote my MD doctoral thesis whilst at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and subsequently commenced my Senior Registrar Gastroenterology rotation in the Liver Unit at Kings College Hospital followed by the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. I was appointed as Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at the Surrey and Sussex NHS Trus tin 1997, where I worked at Crawley and East Surrey Hospitals until January 2011 when I moved into full-time private practice.
