Mr Kumar has a subspecialty interest in cometic surgery of the face, breast & body, and skin cancer surgery.

During his nationally appointed Skin Cancer Fellowship, he trained in Sentinel Node Biopsy and the surgical management of patients with advanced melanoma.

He also received advanced microsurgery training at the internationally renowned Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore, India. As a result of this, he later became one of the founder members of the North-East Microsurgery Course which continues to train future generations of microsurgeons.

He achieved the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery in 2013 and was initially appointed in a Consultant post at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle specialising in breast surgery, before returning to the South East.
